Inspired by the folk, blues, and rock legends of the 1960s and 1970s, Dr. Scott James Rivers, known musically as Fishbone Rivers, grew up surrounded by the sounds and spirit of that era. Raised in a musical family, Scott began writing songs, traveling the country, and performing in clubs and coffee houses, developing a style rooted in Americana, blues, folk-rock, and storytelling.
Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Scott performed at a variety of L.A. venues over the years before eventually settling in San Diego. He received his music education at Costa Mesa College and later earned a doctorate in counseling psychology. Today, Scott continues to write, produce, and perform original songs, having settled into his own songwriting groove as Fishbone Rivers.
